Contactless Drone Delivery

Project Description

LIS 470: Interaction Design Studio

This project also followed the design thinking process but placed a stronger emphasis on prototyping. Our idea stemmed from brainstorming and identifying problems that needed solutions. A team member suggested the idea after observing people in a coffee shop struggle with long wait times or experience social anxiety, wishing to avoid any contact during their order pickup.

We focused on creating a seamless interaction that would address these issues in a unique way, unlike existing apps like DoorDash. Our primary goal was to design a user-friendly interface suitable for all ages, with features ensuring fast and safe deliveries. We optimized geolocation for quicker delivery times and developed the idea of using robots and drones for smaller deliveries, as they could avoid traffic, were easy to track, and offered a completely contactless experience. We experimented a lot with the different task flows for the app and created wireframes of how we wanted everything to look before finally creating our mockup where you could test logging into the app to make an order, check out, and then wait for your order to arrive. This project took over a little a month and a half as we spent time on each process of the design thinking process and learning the skills to operate Figma the way we wanted to. I really enjoyed the prototyping aspect of this entire project because it was my first time having a more tangible product to experiment with through the eyes of a user and developer.
